Journalism Class

  Class highlights

There are many things which I've learnt in this class and I recommend this class to all the students who have their first quarter at De Anza. I think I am fortunate enough that I got to understand quiet a few things about american culture and the impact of mass media on everybody here. Now when I switch on the T.V. the first thing which comes to mind is that if I get a chance to work in this field. Even though by studying journalism I can feel that this field is far more different then any other.Even after reading the whole book I have gained a lot of interest in understanding the concept of media ethics, how it works, categories of films rated by mpaa.
Covering so much on news and techniques of advertisement was so much fun because all of them were interesting to see in which category do we fall for. Taking a journalism class is really helping your brain to grow more and we have a great sense of general knowledge and current affairs.

Learning from class mates

I hope every one at my table mate reads this because I wanna thank them for teaching me so much and the way they use to gossip about stuff was really interesting to observe. I have learnt many things from each one of my "friends".
  • From Kayla I learnt that we can try eating different types of fruit products like bananas, fruit yogurt and maybe more.
  • Caylin taught me to be really sarcastic and being the devil with the innocent face.
  • Shane really taught me that trutlenecks are the super hero stuff for the old fashioned.
  • And Whenever I entered class Katie was the one who waived or the first one to say "Hi Sid!" which I think is a really humble gesture.
All of them are different but are really helpful. If I see them in any of my future classes at De Anza then I'll be the first one to grab a seat next to them.

The First Amendment’s Limit: The Supreme Court’s Plaza

This case was brought up in an article by the New York Times which explains that even the First Amendment has a limit. The issue was that a person named Harold Hodge was on a protest and stood silently in front of the U.S supreme court and protested against the wrong and brutal behavior of the police against the Hispanics and African-American people as he believes. Hodge was arrested for this issue; however, the main problem is that his First Amendment Right was violated. His crime was wearing a sign that read "U.S. Gov. allows the police to illegally murder the african-american and hispanic people. He was given a warning by the the police thrice but he continued with his silent protest and was finally handcuffed. Attorney Jeffrey Light is assisting The Rutherford Institute in its defense of Hodge’s First Amendment rights.

To be honest this issue does effect the people but as we were not present at that time so we can just believe Harold Hodge has raised a public interest issue. I think that this is a good article by The New York Times. This also raises many questions which are still not answered.

BIGGEST ENTERTAINER ARE MOVIES

Movies are the biggest form of entertainment in today's modern world. The only reason that these are in complete form is that the access to it. Movies have high occupancy rate with the multiplex cinemas which contributes in making movies a success and the biggest form of entertainment. Movies have become a necessity for everyone. Furthermore, movies have magic power to let people involve in ficton, they make dreams about love, in venture of violence and so on,maybe you imagine yourself to the character in the movie and all seem to happen around. Talking about my favorite movies I don't have any particular movie because i feel that every movie is good in its own criteria like we can't expect a serious cinema movie to be a thriller.

      ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES

SCAR FACE : I like the movie because of Al Pacino and it is said to be his best performance in his entire career.

IRON MAN : The movie is loved by everyone and Iron Man is my favorite childhood superhero and it is not only the super hero who makes it big but because Robert Downey Jr. is my favorite actor.

ROCKY: I've been watching all the parts of Rocky because this movie is the best inspiration to anyone.

3 IDIOTS : This is a bollywood movie based on the education system and the reasoning being a favorite movie is the realistic approach made by the director which is really missing in most of the hollywood movies.

The Wolf Of  Wall Street : The only only reason I like this movie because of the true story behind it and the trick of earning billions without even spending a penny. My friends do tell me its a dirty one but worth watching once at least.
